Why we built UpScale.
UpScale Lead Marketing started with a frustration most business owners will recognise: lead-generation agencies that talk a great game in the pitch, take your money for six months, and produce a folder of dashboards but nowhere near the customers you were promised.
Before UpScale, Lewis was a founding team member at a Manchester-based AI company that scaled into a global business, spending years flying out to clients across multiple continents to design, deploy and optimise lead-generation systems in dozens of sectors. From local service providers to international enterprise teams, he saw first-hand what actually worked, what didn't, and where the cracks were in the way most agencies operated.
The pattern kept repeating: big agencies running cookie-cutter campaigns. Freelancers vanishing the moment something broke. Lead brokers selling the same "exclusive" lead to five competitors. The businesses paying for all this were trying to grow, but the people they trusted with their marketing weren't really on their side.
Lewis teamed up with Sofia to build an agency around three simple ideas: every lead exclusive to the client who paid for it, every campaign built specifically for that business (no templated nonsense), and direct founder access on WhatsApp, no support tickets, no chat bots, no middlemen.
The first clients were local trades, plumbers, electricians, roofers, builders, the kind of businesses that had been burned the hardest by traditional lead-gen agencies. As word spread, the work grew beyond trades into automotive (Northern Motor Group), agriculture (Tractor Kings), legal services (Rental Deposit Claim Specialists), healthcare (Fab Clinic), and beyond. Most clients have stayed, and most of those have referred others.
In 2026 we expanded into B2B lead generation, AI-powered cold email and LinkedIn outreach with full mailbox infrastructure and reply management, to serve clients selling to other businesses. Same principles, different channels.
Today UpScale is based in Manchester, serving clients across the UK and Ireland. We're still small, still founder-led, and still answering WhatsApps personally. That's by design, it's the reason the work actually works.
